1Rebel To Launch Futuristic Mobile Gym Concept

LONDON, United Kingdom  1Rebel has announced plans to launch a mobile gym concept, allowing customers to take exercise classes on board a fleet of buses.

Taking to the streets of London later this year, the RIDE 2 REBEL buses, complete with mobile spinning studios, will pick passengers up from four designated points across the city, ending up at the St Mary Axe 1Rebel studio near Liverpool Street, where riders will be able to use the studio’s facilities to shower before work.

1Rebel founders, James Balfour and Giles Dean told the Evening Standard that the idea to launch a mobile spinning studio derived from their desire to provide time-starved Londoners with  convenient ways to incorporate fitness into their busy lifestyles.

Balfour explained: “For those who want the components of a class, but perhaps don’t have the time to commit during the day, this provides a great solution for them to maximise time they would otherwise be spending just travelling to work.”

The innovative scheme also allows 1Rebel to reach a more diverse audience, as it looks for ways to increase awareness of its most oversubscribed class – RIDE.

Launched in January 2015, 1REBEL has taken London’s boutique fitness scene by storm. “We’re doing what a lot of other boutique fitness studios won’t or can’t do,” said Balfour of the disruptive ‘pay-as-you-go’ model at the time.

Opening a second studio in Broadgate Circle in August 2015, the immersive brand has remained committed to offering revolutionary experiences through a range of different class-based concepts including workouts backed by live performances and brand partnerships.

The new initiative, RIDE 2 REBEL, is the latest in a line of clever business ideas Balfour and Dean have trialled, and it’s already drumming up lots of publicity for the company.

However, the proposed scheme still has a way to go before the concept is brought to life.

Currently awaiting approval, 1Rebel hope that if enough people sign up for tickets they can persuade the government to sign off on the initiative, which has the potential to shake up the fitness industry all over again.
