4 London Yogis Taking Your Practice To Greater Heights

The ancient art of yoga isn’t new to Londoners, however, with its increasing popularity a number of classes are popping up in slightly more unusual places.

From a hidden corner of Victoria Park to the viewing platform at the top of The Shard, we cover four of London’s Yogis who are giving you the opportunity to really salute the sun.

YOGASPHERE – THE SHARD

Yogasphere have taken their classes to new heights. In addition to their Albany Club and Harley Street classes, Yogasphere’s instructors Mandy and Leo recently launched two weekly sessions in The Shard, which is Western Europe’s tallest building. With 360 degree views of London city, prepare to have your mind expanded.

Leo and Mandy, who specialise in Hatha yoga and Yin and Yang respectively, officially launched in The Shard on June 7th and describe the class as Open Level. They encourage you to come and enjoy the view both before and after from the open-air viewing platform on Level 72. We hope you’re not afraid of heights!

If the weather is right, the classes are held in the open air.

£40 advanced booking.

FAT BUDDHA YOGA – EAST LONDON

Fat Buddha Yoga is ‘a modern approach to yoga for urban yogis’ and was founded by Jessica Skye, a certified Yoga Alliance teacher and DJ.

Jessica hosts sessions in a range of interesting pop-up venues across East London, including Dalston Roof Park (perfect on a sunny day), Google Campus and The Queen of Hoxton.

Combining her passion for yoga and DJ’ing, Jessica uses music as a core element of her classes to evoke a deep and dynamic practice, and also just for something a little different!

Classes range from £7 – £10 depending on location. For classes times visit www.fatbuddhayoga.com

BLUE COW YOGA – ONE NEW CHANGE

Blue Cow Yoga, a London city-based studio, recently began a series of FREE pop-up outdoor yoga classes atop One New Change. We joined Blue Cow’s Kathryn Griffiths for the June pop-up, overlooking St Paul’s Cathedral for a glorious 60-minute practice in the morning sun.

Pop-up classes are FREE, so fill quickly. To hear about upcoming classes, sign up for the Blue Cow Yoga newsletter at www.bluecowyoga.com

PAMA YOGA – VICTORIA PARK & LONDON FIELDS

Pam Norman, certified by Yoga Alliance, teaches in the style of Hatha Flow and is taking her 14 years of experience to two of London’s most beautiful outdoor locations.

Cross your fingers that this beautiful sunny weather will last, and join Pam to salute the sun in either Victoria Park on Saturday or London Fields on Sunday.

“There is nothing quite like practising yoga outside, absorbing the morning sun and breathing in the fresh air of our natural studio,” says Pam of her sunny weekend salutations.

Classes are £10.
