The Uncook Book | by Tanya Maher

Tanya’s Café is the place to grab a delicious raw bite to eat in London. Famous for its cakes and healthy versions of traditional comfort food dishes such as nachos and gnocchi, it boasts Europe’s first superfood cocktail bar and has recently opened a second branch in Parsons Green.

Co-founder Tanya Maher is a wellness coach, creator of the blog ‘Better Raw’ and a passionate promoter of the benefits of raw or as she prefers to call it ‘living’ food. “As soon as you apply heat to food, vitamins and minerals diminish, proteins and antioxidants get halved, enzymes vital for digestion die entirely”, Tanya explains.

‘The Uncook Book’ is Tanya’s first book and as well as plenty of recipes, she’s also promised to answer all your questions on equipment, getting started on a raw lifestyle and most importantly – “why you can (and should) have dessert first”.

The Uncook Book is published on 7th September by Hay House UK and can be pre-ordered here.

Breaking Vegan | by Jordan Younger

Once better known as The Blonde Vegan, Jordan caused controversy last year when she admitted to transitioning away from veganism after realising that she had developed the eating disorder orthorexia. Addicted to juice cleanses and following a strict gluten-free, oil-free, refined sugar-free diet, “I [had] started living in a bubble of restriction”, explains Jordan.

After finally admitting to herself that something was wrong, Jordan made the decision to embrace moderation over dietary extremes and so became ‘The Balanced Blonde’.

In her debut book Jordan tells the story of her road to recovery, how she learnt to listen to her body and how in doing so, she finally achieved true balance. And with an ‘anti-diet’ plan including more than 25 wholefoods-based recipes, she hopes to inspire others to do the same.

Breaking Vegan is published on 10th December by Fair Winds Press and can be pre-ordered here.
