Discover: Smart Rope

NEW JERSEY, United States — Smart Rope, the first jump rope to display fitness data in mid-air, uses LED lights to display the user’s jump count while they’re in motion.

Working alongside a “Smart Gym” mobile application, the tech-infused jump rope has the option to track the number of jumps completed and the amount of calories burned by the user. And when paired with the app, it features a virtual trainer function allowing the user to set fitness goals, track their progress and share it via social media.

Following the completion of a successful kickstarter campaign which raised $193,376, the rope which revolutionises a classic piece of fitness equipment, caught the eye of fitness powerhouse Under Armour who selected the brand as a collaborator.

Having participated in Under Armour’s Future Show, an event featuring innovative products and platforms in sports tech, Smart Rope founder Joen Choe hopes the product will  eventually be available to purchase across Under Armour stores and online.

Recently named as one of the Good Design “BEST 100”, one of the most prestigious accolades in the design world, the jury described their decision to include Smart Rope as being based on the product’s ability to change people’s habits with just a minor idea.
