Ep36. Roger Frampton on Why You Should Just Start Even if You Don’t Think You’re Ready To

This week on EXPERTS we’re joined by Roger Frampton, a renowned Movement Coach specialising in functional performance and creator of the Frampton Method. He’s also an author and has recently launched an app to great success.

In this episode Roger and I talk about why it’s been so powerful to have such a clearly defined niche, and the difference between real, paying customers and social media followers. Roger and I get to the heart of building a career that you are truly passionate about and the advice that has shaped his 20 year entrepreneurial journey – from a nervous PT paying for space in a gym chain, to a successful entrepreneur with an ambitious, scalable 1:many business model – and why it’s essential that you start before you’re ready.

Train with Roger on his app, The Frampton Method, and check out his Ted Talk, ‘Why Sitting Down Destroys You’.

Every week Lauren asks her guests 5 quick-fire questions…

  1. What’s one thing you wish you’d known when you started this journey?
“There really isn’t anything. You learn as you go. I never wished I’d known something, because the only way I would have found out, is actually by doing it, trying, and failing. You just have to work it out.“

  2. What’s one thing you wish you’d done sooner in your business?
Re. launching the app: ‘The fact that we launched it when we launched it, everyone working from home, it seemed a perfect time. There isn’t really anything I wish I’d done earlier. Everything is going in the right direction, slowly, but we’re getting there.”

  3. Why do you do what you do?
“I do what I do because I don’t want to do what I did.”

  4. What’s the best part about your job?
“It’s seeing people achieve things that they didn’t think they could do…. When somebody else has followed your teachings and learned something they didn’t think they could do, or I get a message that says they follow my videos and can now touch their toes for the first time in 20 years. That lights me up..”

  5. What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?
“It would be so hard to bring it to one piece of advice, just because there has been so many. The best bits of advice are…:
    – My uncle said, you can live your passion and there’s no reason why your hobby can’t be your job…
    – Stop playing small in life…
    – A little bit every day….
    – Doesn’t freaking matter anyway.’
