Gap Opens First Standalone GapFit Retail Store In London

Global retailer Gap has opened its first ever standalone GapFit store in London. Occupying two units in BOXPARK Shoreditch, the shop will stock pieces from GapFit’s athletic collection for women, which launched in store in January 2012 after Mireille Gindrey, Vice President, Gap Body realised the company was missing an important aspect of their customer’s lives – exercise.

“I wanted to design a foundation of active pants that are the most flattering and slimming to a women’s body; as well as tops that will make her look stylish as well as motivate her to workout,” said Gindrey.

The collection, which combines functionality with aesthetic includes the popular seamless high-tech line made from Gap’s exclusive Motion fabric. The innovative fabric moves with the body to sculpt a sexy, streamlined silhouette and also employs wicking properties for ventilation and moisture control.

Designed for action and comfort, the emphasis on many of the pieces revolves around engineered fits and fabrics that focus on style and performance. The use of clever detailing including four ways stretch, adjustable waistbands, hidden zip pockets and flat lock seams makes the clothing versatile and functional whatever the customer’s discipline, which is not an easy balancing act.

Is this the first of many GapFit stores to come?
