London’s Danielle Copperman Is Putting Quinoa In Your Breakfast Bowl

London-based model, Danielle Copperman, is stirring up more than just a bountiful breakfast bowl. This week she launched Qnola, a uniquely wheat and gluten-free ‘breakfast cereal’, which boasts a whole load of nutritional qualities and has caught the attention of London’s wellness warriors – including us!

Qnola is a nutrient-dense, unprocessed breakfast alternative; and a welcomed relief from the refined, sugary cereal box options that dominate supermarket shelves. If you hadn’t guessed already, the key ingredient is quinoa – one of Welltodo’s favourite superfoods.

We were delighted to chat with Danielle about her new range of nutritionally enhanced breakfast products.

Tell us, what inspired Qnola?

As a model, I’m always very aware of eating well, looking and feeling good. Researching and studying nutrition and diet triggered an interest in redeveloping my favourite foods in healthier ways. I was a former granola addict before finding out that it is extremely high in sugar, sweeteners, and vegetable oils, as well as wheat and gluten (which I now avoid).

I wanted to develop a healthy gluten and grain-free breakfast alternative to the shop-bought granola, using quinoa instead of oats since it is easier to digest and avoids causing inflammation in the gut.

It was the lack of real, healthy, wholesome and clean breakfast cereals that inspired Qnola; since the first meal of the day is so important.

So quinoa is the key ingredient… what else?

Qnola contains a number of other superfoods including chia seeds, coconut, goji berries, organic sunflower seeds, almonds and pumpkin seeds. It is also rich in antioxidants, nutrients, vitamins and minerals with added ingredients across the range, like beetroot powder (great for the brain), cacao, cinnamon and ginger. I use agave as a natural sweetener, which has a low glycemic index.

Sounds like it really packs a punch; what are some of the health benefits?

Qnola is high in healthy fats and low in sugar, so it improves concentration and digestion, improves energy levels, skin, hair and nails. It also detoxifies and fights against disease-causing free radicals. Every ingredient has a unique health benefit of its own.

How would you like to impact the health and wellness scene in London?

I want to provide Londoners with a sustainable, high-protein breakfast to give them natural energy for the day. I want to get people excited about breakfast too, as many people tell me that they feel uninspired and don’t always have time. That’s why Qnola is quick, easy and transportable!

So what else can welltodo Londoners expect from Danielle Copperman?

Plans for the future including brunch clubs, breakfast delivery services and focusing on spreading the message about Qnola online. I am excited to be working on a healthy food festival in London over the summer and as well as catering for some events across the city.

Prices start from £4.25 for a small pot of Qnola; now available from The Detox Kitchen on Kingly St, W1B 5PJ and the 5th floor of Harvey Nichols, SW1X 7RJ. Plans to expand to other stockists are in motion, so visit www.qnola.co.uk or follow on Instagram @dcopperman and Twitter @qnolaUK for updates.
