Project Fit describes itself as the ultimate workout. Three hours after your first class, you will definitely know why. You’ve just passed your initiation into London’s hardcore fitness culture!

Founders Joel Hilton and Ben Staines, have crafted a hidden fitness Mecca in a central London basement, with bass, high-energy trainers, and an insanely good workout in store.

There’s high intensity interval training (HIIT), and then there’s an hour of pushing yourself harder than you thought possible. It’s the unique Project Fit programme… but it’s the trainer as well.

This is a mixture of bodyweight exercises, running on a treadmill and very little rest in between. It’s tough and you will sweat, but the rewards follow. With a tagline like ‘You vs your body’; it’s all up to you. Meaning, you have the power to make it as easy or as difficult as you want.

“We give people the option and trust they’ll push themselves as hard as they can. By offering different levels for each exercise they can pick what’s best for their level, but also try something higher to really push themselves. Most people come in really ready to work,” explained Joel.

There’s a mental aspect to this kind of training. Only you know your own limits, so it’s up to you to make sure you’re working as hard as possible.

The pump up music and mood lighting help, and a trainer inspiring you (in his deep husky voice), to give it all you’ve got in a genuinely motivational way. You aren’t leaving the room knowing you’ve given any less than your all.

Like any good fitness studio, you can refuel afterwards with a protein-packed smoothie made fresh.

Not quite an hour to spare? There are half hour classes for a lunch workout, with the same level of intensity as the longer class.
