The Rise Of The Healthy Selfie – The Sweatier The Better!

Is the selfie changing the way we train? If you ask the founders of Healthy Selfie, an app that embraces the selfie as a form of motivation and inspiration, there is no such thing as overdoing it. And, according to a new Reebok campaign that launched today, the sweatier the better!

“We are extremely excited to launch what we genuinely believe is the ultimate tool to track your fitness journey,” says Charlotte Li, co-founder of Healthy Selfie – which launched in the App Store last month.

It’s a free social networking app that allows you to shameless snap, share and hashtag your food and bod, as it evolves (and without judgement). From there you can track the journey on Instagram or Facebook as well if, like us, sharing it adds fuel to your fire.

Charlotte, together with her co-founder Joe, discovered through personal experience that snapping selfies and comparing them over a six week training period – yielded much more empowering results that comparing numbers on the scales (ugh!).

Such a surprise, says Charlotte – who had obviously gained weight in muscle, that they set out to create Healthy Selfie, to make comparing selfies quick and easy (and discreet if you’d rather!). It’s self motivating, but it’s also a source of inspiration to others if you decide to share.

“I’m most motivated by seeing the physical changes in my body shape over time,” Charlotte explains. “Counting calories or chasing number on the scales is meaningless to me because, like many people, my diet and weight fluctuate.”

Millie Mackintosh also jumped on the selfie bandwagon today, partnering with Reebok to launch #BreakYourSelfie, a rebellious campaign which challenges the notion of what beauty is by encouraging you to ditch the shiny, happy selfie and get broken and sweaty!

“The sweatier the better,” said Millie in her Instagram caption.

“Maybe we’re at our best and most beautiful when we’re pushing beyond our limits,” added James Woolard, Brand Director at Reebok UK.

To join in the #BreakYourSeflie campaign, share a post-workout pic using the hashtag and tag @ReebokUK and @welltodolondon so we can check it out too. We love the sweaty #welltodolife.

The Healthy Selfie App is available for iPhone in the App Store, with Android release planned for later this year.
