RSG Group Gears Up For First London Fitness Club & New L.A Concept

LONDON, United Kingdom — Global fitness brand RSG Group is gearing up for the launch of its first UK fitness club, set to open in London later this month.

The longstanding company, which operates a portfolio of 17 brands including Gold’s Gym, McFIT and the JOHN REED Family (JOHN REED Fitness Music Club, JOHN REED Women’s Club, JOHN & JANE’S and THE REED), is also preparing to open the doors to a new fitness concept in Los Angeles.

HEIMAT’ will offer holistic day-to-night fitness, wellness, culinary and a cultural concept all under one roof, according to RSG. The new model aims to “reimagine what it means to live well” by providing a “private, yet inclusive, community and dynamic destination centred around a universal feeling of “home” that nourishes, invigorates, and inspires through every sensory touchpoint”.

John Reed London, meanwhile, will occupy a 22,000sq ft site across two floors and follow the brand’s tried and tested formula of fusing cosmopolitan design with live music and a range of different workout options. As with its existing 28 clubs in cities including Berlin, Istanbul, Paris and Zurich, it will feature cardio, strength training and free weight areas, a functional fitness space, a hot yoga studio and sauna.

Speaking about the opening, Marcus Adam, Head of Marketing and Music at John Reed, said: “We’re proud to announce John Reed’s first opening at Broadgate, London. With its vibrant music, culture, arts and lifestyle scene, we are very excited to be bringing our lifestyle fitness concept to the city.”

While Ed Bell, Managing Director at HEIMAT shared: “We are very excited to be opening the first HEIMAT destination in Los Angeles. Everything about the club – from the innovative fitness offerings to the bespoke culinary and cultural programming – has been designed to deliver unforgettable personal and meaningful experiences. We cannot wait to welcome our first members into our home.”

The past 18 months have consisted of a flurry of activity for RSG, which acquired iconic gym chain Gold’s Gym back in July 2020.

Since then, the $100 million deal, has seen RSG expand Gold’s Gym into Germany with a 55,000sq ft flagship in Berlin and another site in Herne. And lay the groundwork for further sites across the country in Munich and Krefeld.

It has also been busy bolstering its digital presence, with the introduction of new digital capabilities across brands including McFIT and Cyberobics.

With further expansion also in the pipeline for John Reed across the US and Europe, the rest of 2021 and 2022 look set to keep the company similarly busy as it bounces back from industry-wide challenges bourne from the Coronavirus.
