The Latest Healthy Food Chain Looking To Dominate The Market

AMSTERDAM, The Netherlands — The world’s first all-avocado franchise has announced the signing of 19 new locations across the UK and Europe, as it forges ahead with ambitious expansion plans.

The Avocado Show, first launched in Amsterdam in 2017, will open restaurants in Madrid, London and Paris over the coming months, as part of its mission to become a worldwide phenomenon. It joins the likes of By CHLOE, LEON, Sweetgreen, Just Salad and an increasing number of healthy food chains that have risen to prominence over the past five years, as people continue to opt for healthier food options outside of the home.

Commenting on the brand’s ongoing international expansion, Ron Simpson, co-founder of The Avocado Show explained:

“We are very excited to see our dream becoming a reality in all these amazing new markets and are happy to have found these great partners to work with. We are looking forward to establishing The Avocado Show across the globe as a socially responsible and profitable venture that will bring joy to avo lovers for years to come.”

Having launched just three years ago, with a mission to bring the flavours of the superfood to life in novel and innovative ways, The Avocado Show has quickly grown to a four-site operation thanks to its Instagram-worthy dishes cultivating a following across social media. According to the brand, its first foray into international markets — with the opening of a franchise location in Brussels in 2018 — has further cemented its success and laid the foundation for its Spanish, UK and French deals. Its strong social presence has also helped to facilitate a product range, successful cookbook, merchandise collection, and a line of Avocado Fries.

“We never sent out a press release,” Simpson told MUNCHIES when discussing the brand’s initial success. “We just put it on Facebook and, before we knew it, we had publications in 30 languages in 60 countries or something. We never in our wildest dreams expected 200 million clicks, shares and likes in eight weeks. We thought it would be a thing in Amsterdam, but didn’t count on crossing all those borders.”

However, with its sights now firmly set on expansion into more European markets, including the addition of further UK locations in cities including Edinburgh, Leeds, Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol, Cambridge, Oxford, and Guildford, the brand is proving itself as a concept that’s ripe for the global stage.

Backed by a €5 million investment from Shawn Harris, the founder and former CEO of Nature’s Pride — a European fruit and vegetable importer, it is also one step closer to establishing itself as the latest healthy food chain to dominate the market.Sign up to receive Welltodo weekly business insights for the wellness industry.
