Women’s Health Cast Instagram Sensation Kayla Itsines As Cover Girl

Instagram sensation Kayla Itsines has become the first ever fitness blogger to land the cover of Women’s Health UK.

In a bold new move away from conventional Hollywood celebrity cover stars, Women’s Health are recognising the high level of influence that bloggers and Instagrammers like Itsines have over their target audience.

Ending the year on a high, the 24 year old, who recently launched the no.1 selling fitness app, Sweat With Kayla, shared the news with her 4 million+ Instagram followers in an emotional post, telling them:

“Made the front cover of@ukwomenshealthThankyou so much everyone! It’s been such a massive 2015 – I could cry just thinking about it! From the start of #bbg, the Australian tour, the WORLD tour, my new Sweat with Kayla APP… and now this🙌 I couldn’t ask for a more perfect end to 2015.”

The Jan/Feb issue of Women’s Health, which goes on sale on 10 December, will be the star’s first ever solo cover – a huge milestone in what has already been a phenomenally successful career for the Australian PT. And it’s a big move for Women’s Health, who have previously featured more traditional superstars like actors Jessica Alba and Gwyneth Paltrow.

Speaking about the decision to break with tradition and shoot Kayla, WH Editor Katie Mulloy explained:

“We’ve featured everyone from the Hollywood A-list to the best of British talent on WH but when it came to choosing a cover star who we knew could inspire our readers to kickstart their New Year fitness, I couldn’t think of a better celebrity than Kayla. She’s the undisputed Queen of Fitspo, followed by millions and has helped women all over the world achieve the sort of results WH prides itself on.”

On a wider scale, the publication’s choice to feature a fitness blogger on the cover highlights the growing influence social media figures like Kayla Itsines have on consumers. With millions of fanatical followers, best-selling products and global reach, collaborating with high-profile bloggers is simply good business sense.

Kayla’s cover and full interview will appear in the Jan/Feb issue of Women’s Health, on sale 10th December.
