1Rebel Adds New Funding

The boutique fitness operator secured an undisclosed investment from leisure and hospitality investor Imbiba.

All-in. A prominent player in the UK fitness scene, 1Rebel has 10 London studios, plus two in Melbourne, Australia and one in Dubai, UAE.

Offering a range of modalities, its programming spans Reshape, Ride, Rumble and Reformer, with its Pilates concept in high demand.

Benefiting as exercisers returned to IRL workout, sales and attendance grew 20% YoY in Q1.

New ground. Armed with fresh capital, 1Rebel is expanding its footprint and testing new formats.

In addition to opening two more studios by the end of 2025, CEO James Balfour said the company is developing a “recovery-focused concept” tailored to holistic health pursuits.

Of note, as it scales up, 1Rebel will focus on wholly-owned clubs over franchising to retain full control of operations.

Looking ahead: Dubbed the “King of Gyms”, Imbiba’s backing will help 1Rebel reach new heights. But, as international brands set up shop across London and beyond, its immersive experience will be put to the test.
