Colombian Boutique Brand Action Black Debuts in US

Action Black

Action Black is going global.

What’s happening: The Colombian boutique gym chain debuted its US flagship in New York following a ~$3.5M investment.

Sign-ups topped 500 in 72 hours, green-lighting plans for 25 stateside clubs this year.

Having already closed deals for seven sites in NYC and Miami, the multi-modality boutique will pursue worldwide expansion via Mexico, Spain, Portugal, UAE and China.

No limits. With 15+ studios open or in development in Colombia, Action Black touts a luxury boutique gym built on principles across exercise, recovery and aesthetic care.

Community-driven, exercisers choose from hour-long sessions across nine modalities, including yoga, dance, boxing and weightlifting.

Growing ambitious, a recovery clinic called RESET, sports club Action Sport and women’s athleisure range AW are also in the pipeline.

Trading Spaces

Often overlooked, the LatAm boutique scene is making global trades.

  • TRIB3 and PILAT3S signed their first franchises in Panama, set to open in 2025.
  • Argentinian callisthenics studio CORE will enter Spain via Madrid this year.
  • Scaling to 24 countries including Peru and Colombia, Orangetheory is prioritising growth after a merger with Self Esteem Brands.

Looking ahead: Action Black pitches itself as a premium “training experience”, not a traditional gym. With consumers willing to spend on quality fitness experiences, global operators who can cultivate community anywhere will sustain long-term development.
