The Yard Targets International Growth

The Yard

The Yard is accelerating expansion.

What’s happening: The Aussie functional fitness franchise is targeting 200+ new sites in Australia by 2025, with another 200 planned for the UK, US, Europe, Ireland and New Zealand.

Getting to work, 32 sites will launch on home turf in the coming months while the brand scouts international franchise partners in key markets.

Teamwork. Scaling from 28 studios (including two in the US), The Yard’s aggressive expansion follows the appointment of Rob Deutsch as partner and strategic advisor.

Enlisting the F45 Training co-founder last November, the brand sees his involvement as integral to growth, seeking a well-nurtured and sustainable franchisee network and community.

Keeping pace with the market, the rebranding of existing sites, plus adding mat Pilates classes at select studios, is optimising the member experience.

Aussie Invasion

Aussie-born fitness concepts are riffing on traditional exercise modalities, and the world wants more.

  • Targeting 500 sites globally by 2028, boxing franchise UBX launched 24/7 studio access and ‘after-hours’ tech-led classes.
  • After debuting in the UK and Canada last year, STRONG Pilates is headed to Japan while uniting with Yoga Movement to scale in Singapore.
  • Joining 300+ studios globally, new BFT sites in the UK, US, Asia, Europe and Australia are planned for 2024, with a HYROX partnership extending reach.

Looking ahead: Growing fast, Australian fitness franchises are closing in on international competitors. With a focus on strategic placement of sites and community, The Yard is plotting to steal market share.
